Welder trade under CTS is one of the most popular courses running on pan India through ITIs. It mainly consists of trade (skills and knowledge) and Core area (Workshop Calculation and science, Engineering Drawing and Employability Skills). After passing out of the training programme, the trainee is awarded National Trade Certificate (NTC) by NCVT have worldwide recognition.

During one-year duration, a candidate will be trained in first five months in the institute for all basic training (Theory/Practical) then next five months he will go to reputed industry for hands-on practice to acquire fabrication and production related skills and industry level knowledge and in last two months he will again come back to institute for revision of theory and practical’s.

Scope
Welder can individually work on any project as per drawing and fabricate different structure accordingly, can do a repairing and maintenance work as per requirement. Welder can weld the different joint like fillet and groove joint in all position using the different welding processes on ferrous like mild steel & stainless steel and non-ferrous metal like Aluminum, copper etc. The mainly welding processes are:- Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Oxy – Acetylene Gas Welding (OAW) & Oxy – Acetylene Gas cutting (OAC), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), Resistance Welding (RW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Metal Active Gas (MAG) / Metal Inert Gas (MIG), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) or TIG Welding, Surfacing or Metal Build up, Hard Facing. He can inspect the weldment by visual inspection and find out external defect on weld and correct it to make sound weld joint. Can also check & inspect the internal defects by demonstrating destructive test and non-destructive test like Magnetic Partial Test, Liquid Partial Test.
